The Defenseman Camp is led by Stan Sibert. Stan is a former Slovakian professional hockey player who blends both the European and North American styles of defensive play into each on-ice session. His innovative drills are popular with students learning effective defensive zone positioning while generating offence from the backend. Coach Sibert is entering his 2nd season (2017-2018, 2018-2019) as Head Coach of the Saint Georges Saints bantam program playing in the prestigious CSSHL (Canadian School Sport Hockey League). Along with his junior and pro clientele, Stan is also an on-ice skills coach for various minor hockey associations. Coach Sibert holds a Masters Degree in Coaching and BC Hockey High Performance Coach Certification.
Support instructors for this camp include US College players and current NHL draft picks. Topics include: defenseman specific skating, gap control, stick positioning, zone coverage, body contact and game play positioning. Players are placed in on-ice skill groups based on age, level of play, and ability.
