Vancouver Hockey School is home to the lower mainland’s most highly respected NHL / Pro Development Program. This program is open to players who currently play hockey at the professional level. This includes NHL draft picks, ECHL, AHL and NHL contracted players. On-ice sessions are open to private or semi-private groupings.

Derek Popke | Skating Coach
Derek Popke is the founder and president of Vancouver Hockey School Ltd. As a hockey skating consultant, Popke has worked on-ice with the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs (2009-2014), ECHL Victoria Salmon Kings, BCHL Surrey Eagles and Penticton Vees, MML GV Canadians, and numerous minor hockey associations. In 2009, a record 19 players who skate with Popke were drafted in the WHL Bantam Draft. As one of the lower mainland’s most respected skating coaches, over 50 of Popke’s skating clients have been selected in the NHL draft in the past 7 years. His focus remains teaching balance, speed, and power with and without the puck. In 2012, he was named host of Minor Hockey Talk on Sportstalk CISL AM-650. Most recently, he was a key note speaker on hockey skating at The Coaches Site Coaching Conference featuring top coaches from around the world.eo.
Yogi Svejkovsky | Skills Coach
Yogi Svejkovsky is currently the Skills Coach of the WHL Vancouver Giants (2006-2016). He has been a key contributor in enhancing the skills of many NHL’ers including Milan Lucic, Andrew Cogliano, Evander Kane, Cody Franson, Brendan Gallagher, and Lance Bouma. As a member of the Giants coaching staff, Yogi captured a Memorial Cup in 2007. As a player, Yogi is a 1st Rd draft pick (17th overall) of the NHL Washington Capitals. He spent 4 years playing in the NHL (Capitals, Lightning) and holds the Capitals record for most goals scored by a rookie (4) in a single game. A former WHL and AHL All-star, Yogi is regarded as one of the most detailed and highly respected skills coaches in North America. He spent 5 seasons (2009-2014) as Hockey Director for Seafair Minor Hockey. Svejkovsly currently serves as Hockey Advisor for South Delta Minor Hockey (2015-2017). Yogi is also the founder and director of the prestigious BC Bears Spring Program.
